Week/Semaine 36 : 04-11 july/juillet : terrace, garden and preparations for the new back windows/ terrasse, jardin et préparatifs pour les nouvelles fenêtres façade arrière

When we bought the house - already 31 weeks ago - we decided to enlarge the actual terrace.
With the big works being almost finished, we made a concrete base in the garden, mounted a surrounding wall before filling the gap with the broken stones of the destroyed interior walls.

Quand nous avons acheté la maison - déjà 31 semaines - on avait déjà envisagé d’agrandir la terrasse. Avec les gros travaux presque finis, nous avons fait une dalle de béton qui accueille un premier mur entourant la future terrasse. Le trou a été rempli avec les briques d'une partie des murs intérieurs détruit.

Because I was tired of all the trees and plants we didn't want to keep in our future garden idea - especially the ivy going literally everywhere on the wall - we cut and removed everything. It wasn't a prior job to do, but it will ease the global maintenance of the garden in the near future.

Vu que j'en avais marre des arbustes et plus spécifiquement le lierre que se propageait partout, et que nous ne comptions pas garder pour notre futur jardin, tout a été coupé et retiré. ce n'était pas une tâche prioritaire vu le travail à encore effectuer, mais ça facilitera l'entretien du jardin sur la durée.

At the back façade, we had to remove the window of the future kitchen because the lowest point of that window would obstruct the coming sink and kitchen counter. Last reason to change it, we were unable to open that window (again for security reasons because of the bank). And we also decided to remove the door and adjacent window in the future dinner room to replace it by a sliding door. 

Nous devions remplacer la fenêtre de la future cuisine car l'actuelle gênait la pose 

de l'évier, la mise en place du plan de travail et en plus, il n'est pas possible d'ouvrir cette fenêtre (c'était une banque...). Dans la salle à manger, on a souhaité changer la porte et fenêtre par une porte coulissante.

Week/Semaine 30-34 : 13 june/juini - 03 july/juillet : Family visit and big big works! visite familiale et du très très gros boulot!

Esra's parents paid us a visit in june, and we worked in the house all together. We did mainly works in the attic and sanding of the walls, but here are some nice picutres!

Les parent d'Esra sont venu nous visiter en juin, et nous avons travaillé tous ensemble dans la maison. Nous avons principalement continué le boulot dans le grenier, et le ponçage des murs. Voici quelque photos sympa!

 

Together we brought our big guy - the brand new boiler - from the ground floor to the attic. 

Now he's installed and ready to go. We have hot water, just waiting for a decent kitchen and bathroom :-)

Ensemble, nous en avons profité transporté le chauffe-eau du rez de chaussée au grenier. Depuis, il est installé. Nous avons donc de l'eau chaude, il suffit maintenant d'avoir la cuisine et salle de bain pour pouvoir en profiter.

The week after their visit, we decided to hire a building contractor for the works following the architectural plans and engineering calculations. At the ground floor, we want to remove the wall between the future kitchen and living room, and the one between the kitchen and the dining room. We asked a building contractor to do this huge job since we touch the stability of the house and we do not want to take any risks. The works started on 28/06, and will be finished on 08/07.

La semaine suivante, nous avons décidé d'engager un entrepreneur pour démolir les murs porteurs entre la future cuisine et le salon, ainsi que le mur entre la cuisine et la future salle à manger.

Renforcements are present a little bit everywhere

We had to keep a small part of the wall between kitchen and living room, but... we decided to brake it also because of bad shape, and a new one is build. This is necessary, since steal beems need to be placed for maintaining the stability of the entire house, and there he is. 

Nous étions obligés de maintenir une partie du mur entre la cuisine et le salon... mais étant en mauvais état, nous avons décidé de l'abattre et de faire remonter un nouveau mur. C'est absolument nécessaire car des poutres en acier vont reposer dessus pour maintenir la stabilité de la maison toute entière

At the other side of the kitchen, they made a concrete wall to support the steel beem.

À l'opposé de la cuisine, le mur en béton sur lequel reposera également la poutre en fer.

Last but not least: the concrete renforcement which will support the iron beem instead of the wall between kitchen and dining room.

Et pour finir, l'achelet qui supportera la poutre en acier en lieu et place du mur entre la cuisine et la salle à manger.

Week/Semaine 29 : 06 - 12 june/juini: isolating the floor and creating the hall in the attic/isolation du sol et création du sas dans le grenier

The staircase is made, so we can isolate the attic and create a hall to avoid losing heat during the winter. We made this by using a metallic structure around the staircase, which we isolated and recovered with plaster plates.

We also isolated the floor of the attic and recovered it with the OSB plates.

Vu que l'escalier est terminé, nous avons créé un sas dans le grenier qui permettra à maintenir la chaleur dans les étages inférieurs durant l'hiver. Pour cela, nous avons utilisé une structure métallique, placé de l'isolation avant de recouvrir avec des plaques de plâtre.

Le sol qui a été nettoyé préalablement est également isolé et recouvert d'un plancher fait de plaques OSB.

Week/Semaine 27 : 06 - 12 june/juini: isolating the floor and creating the hall in the attic/isolation du sol et création du sas dans le grenier
