Week/Semaine 41: 15 - 21 august/aout : Reinforcements are gone -> we can finish the rooms! Les étançons sont partis -> on peut peindre les chambres!

We stopped painting all the rooms because of the renforcements on the ground floor, which could create the plaster plates to crack when removed. This actually happened, but with a minor for the room walls. So we closed them, before Francis painted the rooms.

This week, one kids room (street side) is finalized (paint + laminated floor). The ceilings of the halls of the + 1 and attic + and bathroom are also done. 

During the coming week the room at the garden side will also be painted.

Nous avons arrêté de peindre les chambres durant les travaux du rez de chaussée, car des crevasses risquaient d'apparaître après l'enlèvement des étançons, ce qui était le cas. De petites crevasses ont vu le jour quand tout a été retiré, mais les dégâts étaient relativement minimes. Francis à depuis peint la chambre pour enfant côté rue, placé le laminât, et les plafonds des halls du +1, du grenier et de la salle de bain ont également étés peints.

Cette semaine, la dernière chambre - côté jardin - sera également peinte et le laminât y sera également installé.

Week/Semaine 39 + 40 : 01 - 14 august/aout : Bathroom/salle de bain

Not a lot to say, just to show! We mainly placed tiles, and two walls will be painted soon.
Peu à dire, beaucoup à monter. Nous avons placé des carrelages, et deux murs seront peints.

Week/Semaine 38 : 11- 17 july/juillet : Bathroom and dressing / salle de bain et dressing

Last week before our holidays, we started the transformations in the bathroom and the dressing.
À une semaine de nos vacances, nous avons débuté les transformations de la salle de bain et du dressing.

We mainly "prepared" the room, to be ready when we would come back from holidays, so we sanded the walls before the tiling will start, and we alo made a casing of waterproof wood to hide the evacuation pipes of the bath, sink, toilet and washing machine.

Nous avons surtout "préparé" la pièce pour recevoir les carrelages, c'est à dire un ponçage des murs et la fabrication d'un coffrage en bois hydrofuge pour cacher les tuyaux d'évacuation (bain/lavabo/toilettes/machine à laver).

Since we already bought the dressing, we started to mount it, which wasn't as easy as Ikea tells you! Pictures will explain it better than text.

Vu que le dressing était acheté, autant le monter! Par contre, ne vous y méprenez pas, car la facilité Ikea n'est pas au programme!

Week/Semaine 37 : 04-11 july/juillet : terrace, garden and preparations for the new back windows/ terrasse, jardin et préparatifs pour les nouvelles fenêtres façade arrière

When we bought the house - already 31 weeks ago - we decided to enlarge the actual terrace.
With the big works being almost finished, we made a concrete base in the garden, mounted a surrounding wall before filling the gap with the broken stones of the destroyed interior walls.

Quand nous avons acheté la maison - déjà 31 semaines - on avait déjà envisagé d’agrandir la terrasse. Avec les gros travaux presque finis, nous avons fait une dalle de béton qui accueille un premier mur entourant la future terrasse. Le trou a été rempli avec les briques d'une partie des murs intérieurs détruit.

Les différentes étapes pour créer la terrasse (on doit encore ajouter le béton et carreler ou y mettre un plancher) 

Because I was tired of all the trees and plants we didn't want to keep in our future garden idea - especially the ivy going literally everywhere on the wall - we cut and removed everything. It wasn't a prior job to do, but it will ease the global maintenance of the garden in the near future.

Vu que j'en avais marre des arbustes et plus spécifiquement le lierre que se propageait partout, et que nous ne comptions pas garder pour notre futur jardin, tout a été coupé et retiré. ce n'était pas une tâche prioritaire vu le travail à encore effectuer, mais ça facilitera l'entretien du jardin sur la durée.

At the back façade, we had to remove the window of the future kitchen because the lowest point of that window would obstruct the coming sink and kitchen counter. Last reason to change it, we were unable to open that window (again for security reasons because of the bank). And we also decided to remove the door and adjacent window in the future dinner room to replace it by a sliding door. 

Nous devions remplacer la fenêtre de la future cuisine car l'actuelle gênait la pose 

de l'évier, la mise en place du plan de travail et en plus, il n'est pas possible d'ouvrir cette fenêtre (c'était une banque...). Dans la salle à manger, on a souhaité changer la porte et fenêtre par une porte coulissante.
